Propane Service Technician and Delivery

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Deliver, install, service, and warranty repair customer propane equipment. Record transactions on customer deliveries and installs, assist in collecting accounts, handle complaints and obtain customer signatures on receipt for pickup or delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Install LP tanks, lines, regulators and LP equipment according to code for customers.

Test LP systems for leaks and deliver LP cylinders.

Respond to and resolve service requests, leak report and complaints.

Assist propane sales and delivery personnel as needed or as a relief delivery driver.

Assist in collecting accounts and contracting of LP, handle complaints promptly.

Ensure customer satisfaction by promoting good relations; assist in product selection and advise on the use and application of products sold.

Complete and turn in daily sales reports and do inventory of LP products and equipment.

Inform customers of new products or services and communicate sales leads to energy salesperson.

Adhere to the uniform policy and maintain the appropriate professional image.

Work additional hours to meet season demands. Allow for flexibility in work schedule in order to ensure order completion.

Adhere to the company environmental, health, and safety policies and do require safety training.

Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts.

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

Follows OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned by manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Positions at this level have no formally assigned supervisory responsibility.  Employees are responsible only for the performance of their own assigned work.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a technical degree or certification in commercial/industrial mechanics, electricity, and electronics or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of service-related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of commercial/industrial services and installations.

Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and schematic drawings as well as regulatory manuals and materials.

Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant

Occasionally exposed or required to:

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, snow, ice, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • May be required to work at varying heights
  • Lift 51 - 70 lbs.

Certificates, Licenses Registrations

Appropriate driver's license, CDL with Hazmat, Tank and air brakes. Must pass required CEPT schooling. Employee must be insurable to operate required vehicles.

Materials, Equipment and Software Used

General knowledge of office computers and operating systems.
