Job description

Project Manager — Marcel Digital

(Hybrid | Chicagoland candidates only)

As a Project Manager at Marcel Digital, you’ll support the successful delivery of software development and digital services projects while growing into full, independent ownership over time. You’ve already built a foundation — one to three years in digital marketing, agency work, or digital project delivery — and you’re ready to put it to work.

You’ll work closely with senior project managers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to coordinate timelines, track progress, and maintain clear communication across stakeholders. You’ll start with meaningful project responsibility from day one, and take on increasing ownership of mid-size projects and client relationships as your confidence and capabilities grow.

The expected salary range for this position is $60k - $80k

Role Description

Project Management & Support

Manage and support the execution of software development and digital services projects — helping manage budget, scope and timelines, tracking deliverables, and ensuring tasks move forward. You’ll play a key role in keeping projects organized and on track.

Client Communication

Communicate with clients both individually and alongside senior team members. You’ll document discussions, follow up on action items, and steadily take the lead on more client interactions.

Planning & Task Management

Translate project requirements into actionable tasks. You’ll maintain project plans, support the creation of monthly tasks, keep tools up to date, and ensure team members have clarity on next steps. You’re more than just a traffic cop, you understand the requests to drive work forward and actively manage them through completion and delivery.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with developers, designers, and marketing teams to understand how web projects come together. You’ll deepen your familiarity with each discipline and how they contribute to successful delivery.

Process Adherence

Follow established project management and agile workflows. As you gain experience, you’ll contribute ideas to improve how projects are managed and delivered.

Risk Awareness

Identify potential risks or blockers and escalate them appropriately. You don’t need to solve everything, but you should know when something needs attention.

Transparency & Reporting

Maintain visibility into project status by updating tools, preparing status updates, and ensuring accurate documentation.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum 2 years of professional project management experience
  • Previous experience working in a digital, marketing, or software agency
  • Experience managing digital, website, software development, or digital marketing projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with experience working directly with external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Nice to Have

  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced agency environment, with genuine curiosity for how our agency operates and our clients’ business goals
  • Growth-minded and eager to leverage AI to improve day-to-day efficiency and productivity
  • Familiarity with project management tools (ClickUp, Workfront, Jira, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts (CMS platforms, front-end/back-end roles)
  • Basic understanding of paid media channels and/or SEO/AEO
  • Knowledge of Nicolas Cage

Benefits

Marcel offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible, collaborative work environment. You’ll have meaningful autonomy, influence how projects are delivered to clients, and help shape the future of Marcel’s project management practice.

We value curiosity, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. If you’re excited about growing into a PM who delivers digital projects clients can actually trust, we’d love to hear from you.
