Job description

Job Type Full-time Description SSI is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team supporting Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and related Aviation Program Offices for the Department of War. This position is hybrid/onsite. Relocation assistance package available!

The Lead Engineer will function as the local task manager and be responsible for managing the engineering activities related to the PMA 207 Tactical Airlift Program Fuselage Tanks Refurbishment project. This role requires extensive experience in airworthiness processes, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive technical excellence and compliance within the team. Key Responsibilities: For this Lead Systems Engineering position, you will be responsible for conducting research, developing new engineering solutions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to bring cutting-edge technologies to the warfighters.

· Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex airworthiness issues. · Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to NAVAIR airworthiness. · Contribute to the development of innovative engineering solutions across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with NAVAIR airworthiness standards and regulations.

· Develop and implement airworthiness processes, procedures, and documentation. · Conduct airworthiness assessments and reviews to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. · Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of airworthiness-related projects.

· Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met. · Manage risks, issues, and changes, ensuring minimal impact on project delivery. · Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including NAVAIR authorities, to ensure alignment on airworthiness requirements and expectations.

· Represent the engineering team in meetings, presentations, and discussions with stakeholders. · Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. · Ensure all documentation (assessment, reviews, compliance) is accurate, complete, and compliant with NAVAIR standards.

Requirements · ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field or similar engineering discipline · Minimum 10 years of experience in a position requiring engineering expertise with at least 5 years in NAVAIR airworthiness type processes, to include Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) Process. · Proven experience in a leadership role, managing and developing engineering teams. · Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

· Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and make data-driven decisions. · Proficiency in using engineering software tools including CAD software (such as Anark, Creo, AutoCAD), and knowledge of simulation and analysis tools. · Eligibility for a SECRET clearance.

Preferred: · 10 years Systems Engineering and aircraft integration experience. · 10 years experience in NAVAIR airworthiness processes (to include SETR process). · Active Secret clearance (or higher)
