Job Title: Safety Manager
Job Type: Full-time, Salaried
Location: Sterling, VA

Job Summary:

The Safety Manager will play a critical role in supporting safe operations across heavy civil infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for an experienced construction safety professional with a strong background in field safety oversight, OSHA compliance, and training delivery. The Safety Manager will work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and field teams to ensure jobsites meet the highest standards of safety performance while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Jobsite Safety Oversight: Conduct regular field visits to assess safety compliance, identify hazards, and verify adherence to company and regulatory requirements.

Safety Reporting: Prepare detailed safety reports, documentation, and corrective action plans. Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and training activities.

Safety Training: Deliver safety training classes, including Fall Protection, Confined Space, and other OSHArelated topics.

Regulatory Compliance: Monitor compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Provide guidance to project teams on regulatory requirements and best practices.

Incident Support: Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective actions.

Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with field leadership to implement safety initiatives, reinforce expectations, and support continuous improvement.

Program Support: Review and update safety policies and procedures. Assist with implementing sitespecific safety plans and risk mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 15+ years of experience in construction safety, preferably within heavy civil infrastructure
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • OSHA 30/OSHA 500/OSHA 510
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and field safety practices
  • Excellent communication and reportwriting skills
  • Ability to conduct hands-on field assessments and lead effective training sessions
  • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Safety Lead, Safety Superintendent, or similar leadership role
  • Experience supporting multiple active job sites
  • Familiarity with heavy civil construction equipment and operations
