We're looking for a Construction Manager to lead the technical execution of our projects — from buyout through closeout. You'll own subcontractor management, drawing review, field coordination, cost control, and quality of the finished work.
This is a growth role. FCI is growing, and the right Construction Manager will grow with us — into Senior Construction Manager, Director of Construction, and beyond as the company expands.
Primary Responsibilities:
Subcontractor Management
  • Hold subcontractors accountable to scope, schedule, quality, and safety
  • Resolve field conflicts, scope gaps, and coordination issues between trades
  • Review and approve subcontractor pay applications based on work in place
Project Execution

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Lead constructability review during preconstruction — catch scope gaps before they hit the field
  • Coordinate trade sequencing, site logistics, and phasing with the General Superintendent
  • Walk sites regularly, resolve issues in real time, and keep projects moving
  • Work closely with FCI's Project Management Team
Estimation, Cost & Schedule

  • Own project cost from buyout through closeout
  • Track committed costs, projected final costs, and margin
  • Manage change order pricing and scope control to protect margin
  • Build realistic schedules and drive recovery plans when projects slip
Quality, Safety & Closeout

  • Enforce FCI's safety program and applicable OSHA/EM385 standards
  • Coordinate with our Quality Control Managers on QC standards and testing
  • Lead punch list resolution, closeout documentation, and final turnover
What We're Looking For:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of federal construction management
  • Experience running commercial AND federal projects in the $1M – $10M range
  • Strong drawing and specification reading (architectural, structural, MEP)
  • Subcontractor management experience — buyout, coordination, accountability
  • Comfort with cost tracking, change orders, and margin discipline
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to grow — take on more responsibility, learn federal construction, and step into leadership
Preferred:

  • Federal construction experience (USACE, NAVFAC, VA, GSA, or agency direct)
  • OSHA 30, EM385, or CSSHO certification
  • Construction software fluency
  • Growing subcontractor network in the DC / NCR market
  • Engineering or construction management degree
Why FCI

  • Growing federal contractor
  • Opportunity to grow into senior leadership as the company expands
  • Veteran-owned business committed to mission and team
