Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for estimating, planning, coordinating, and successfully delivering smaller residential and light commercial construction projects, valuing up to $200,000 per project. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and is responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.  Project locations will range from Plymouth to Provincetown.

Responsibilities:

Project Oversight & Execution

  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Oversee multiple crews (typically 3–6 employees total) and subcontractors to ensure efficiency, productivity, and safety on-site.
  • Manage assigned projects from estimating and pre-construction through construction and closeout, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare and manage project documentation, including budgets, schedules, proposals, change orders, permits, and project correspondence.
  • Generate timely and accurate billing, cost reports, and progress updates for senior management.


Client & Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders throughout all phases of the project.
  • Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while continually expanding your professional network.
  • Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and communication transparency throughout each project.

Sales & Business Development

  • Pursue, estimate, and secure new projects in alignment with company goals, valuing up to $200,000 per project.
  • Support leadership with project forecasting, staffing projections, and business development initiatives.
  • Promote the Cape Associates brand and reputation through professional interactions and community engagement.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide mentorship, oversight, and development for assigned staff members and field crews.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality craftsmanship, and operational excellence.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience in residential remodeling, repair or small construction projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, construction means and methods, and project sequencing.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects while meeting budget, schedule, and client satisfaction goals.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Buildertrend, Foundation, Work Max or similar), Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred:

  • OSHA10 or OSHA30 certification preferred.
  • Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License (CSL), or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience strongly considered.

Physical Requirements:

  • This is largely a sitting role; however, some standing and movement is required. This includes the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Occasionally, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may.
