Job description

Position: Project Manager
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $70,000-90,000
Position Summary
The Project Managerโ€™s job responsibilities involve both field and office work. They work closely with the design team, other project managers, and the construction team to carry out the goals and priorities of the client and company. The PM collaborates with the design team to ensure a rapid and smooth transition from project design to construction. The PM also collaborates with the production manager, crew leaders, and other staff to supervise and facilitate the construction process and is responsible for assuring a consistently safe and healthy work environment for all involved with WED projects under their supervision.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in all phases of the project.
  • Apply a high level of technical expertise in ecological restoration to ensure that WED consistently produces the highest quality of work. This includes performing all work in a manner that is based on current scientific findings, scientifically-defensible arguments, and techniques related to professional land management and ecological restoration.
  • Work with internal WED design team to develop design plans and project strategies within the parameters of the consulting contracts.
  • Work with Design to develop design plans and project strategies within the parameters of the consulting contracts.
  • Lead presentations as needed in collaboration with the project team at regulatory review meetings (primarily local-level Conservation Commission public hearings) for the purpose of discussing the technical aspects, ecological benefits and services, implementation approach and regulatory compliance of WED-developed projects.
  • Collaborate with the internal WED team in scheduling jobs and assigning construction staff to specific projects to achieve maximum efficiency in a safe environment.
  • Collaborate with the internal WED team in the preparation and planning of projects to ensure the efficient and productive pre-mobilization, mobilization and de-mobilization of construction projects.
  • Act as maintain point of communication with clients and members of the project team (e.g. engineers) as needed during all phases of a project.
  • Assist and regularly inform the internal WED team as necessary regarding project information (e.g., scope, timeframe, budget status), daily active project updates, regulatory compliance and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate/assist Environmental Technicians and Crew Leaders in various types of restoration construction, active and ongoing land management activities and/or restoration planting projects.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor work progress and environmental compliance in the construction phase.
  • Develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with regulatory review agency representatives.
  • Maintain regular project documentation within the ERP / CRM programs.
  • Comply with all safety rules, regulations and standards as well as all WED policies and procedures.
  • Perform other functions, as determined by WED as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Job Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, Landscape Architecture or related field preferred coupled with 3+ years of relevant experience OR Masterโ€™s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management or related field preferred coupled with 1+ years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or GED Certificate and 5+ years of relevant experience. Relevant experience should be in an ecological contracting, landscape construction or environmental consulting role.
  • Required Licenses: Valid Driverโ€™s License; MA Pesticide Applicator License (to be acquired within 60 days of hire).
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity/Experience with Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, Regulations, and Policies as well as local wetland protection Bylaws and Regulation and local Conservation Commission project review procedures.
  • Experience with landscape construction, ecological restoration, and bioengineering construction.
  • Expertise in presenting projects before regulatory compliance review boards seeking project approvals is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Cape Cod native plant communities invasive plant species and control/management techniques.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is desirable.
  • Ability to review and comprehend construction plans and details.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to provide leadership and work respectfully as a team with co-workers.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and relationship building skills.
