Full Job Description

We're growing, and we're looking for a Project Surveyor who can lead survey work with technical care, clear communication, and steady ownership. This role is a key link between field crews, drafting staff, project managers, and clients. The right person will be meticulous, efficient, and committed to developing the people around them while delivering accurate survey work on time and on budget.

The Role

The Project Surveyor manages survey projects from research and field coordination through calculations, drafting support, review, and final deliverables. You'll guide field crews, coordinate with CAD technicians, communicate with clients and internal project managers, and help ensure survey work meets project requirements, applicable laws, and professional standards.

Essential Duties

Manage and coordinate boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction staking, and other survey projects.

Review field data and provide clear direction to crews so data collection is accurate, efficient, and complete.

Perform research, calculations, and quality-control review in support of survey deliverables.

Work closely with CAD technicians to keep deliverables accurate, organized, and on schedule.

Communicate professionally with clients, project managers, field staff, drafting staff, and other stakeholders.

Ensure survey deliverables meet project specifications, applicable laws, and standards of practice.

Lead, manage, train, mentor, and hold junior staff accountable.

Qualifications

Professional Land Surveyor license.

5+ years of progressive land surveying experience.

Comprehensive understanding of field procedures and office survey processes.

Familiarity with general survey CAD workflows.

Punctuality, dependability, and strong follow-through.

Solid communication, organization, and project-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects at once and keep up with deadlines.

Valid North Carolina driver's license.

Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Even Better

Experience managing survey work as part of civil engineering, transportation, utility, or development projects.

Prior Crew Chief experience.

Proficiency with Carlson Survey and Autodesk Civil 3D.
