Position Summary:
The Marketplace Operations Associate supports operational workflows tied to billing, invoicing, data analysis, and vendor coordination. This Marketplace Operations Associate role is based in Belfast, ME and follows a hybrid work model. The position combines SQL-based reporting, data review, and cross-functional operational support to help ensure accurate and timely marketplace operations. This person will report to the Manager, Platform Operations.
Team Summary:
This team is responsible for maintaining partnership contract interpretation related to billing and invoicing, while also supporting the development of partnership, business, analytics, and operational metrics. The work includes reviewing operational data, identifying trends, supporting vendor-related processes, and providing insights that help improve business performance and service execution. Team members collaborate across functions to support accurate reporting, billing integrity, and informed operational decisions. The role contributes to day-to-day marketplace operations by helping translate data into clear, actionable insights and supporting consistent execution across systems and partners.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyze operational, billing, and invoicing data to support accurate reporting and issue resolution.
  • Develop SQL queries and data extracts to support recurring reporting, ad hoc analysis, and business requests.
  • Review contract and partnership information to support billing interpretation and operational accuracy.
  • Manage vendor-related operational activities, including tracking requests, follow-up, and coordination with internal partners.
  • Support marketplace billing and invoicing workflows by identifying discrepancies and helping drive resolution.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and business metrics using business intelligence (BI) and analytics tools.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, validate data, and improve operational processes.
  • Document recurring issues, process steps, and reporting logic to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Use available artificial intelligence (AI) tools to streamline routine analysis, draft summaries, and increase efficiency while applying sound judgment to validate results.
  • Monitor key operational trends and escalate risks or data quality concerns when needed.

Additional Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with special projects related to marketplace operations and vendor support.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts that increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Help maintain reporting templates, trackers, and operational documentation.
  • Support basic troubleshooting for data, billing, or reporting questions.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide status updates on assigned work.
  • Assist with onboarding or knowledge transfer for process changes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the platform operations function.

Expected Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in operations, reporting, billing, invoicing, vendor management, or a related analyst role.
  • Experience using SQL to query, validate, and analyze data.
  • Experience with data analysis and translating findings into clear business insights.
  • Exposure to Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools, dashboards, or reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with analytics workflows, performance metrics, and operational reporting.
  • Experience supporting vendor management processes or coordinating with external partners.
  • Experience with billing and invoicing processes, reconciliation, or issue resolution.
  • Strong attention to accuracy, organization, and follow-through in a collaborative environment.

Expected Compensation
$50,000 - $86,000
The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.
