We are looking for a Operations student to join our Team!

The placement student will assist and provide operational and administrative support to the operations and facilities team, contributing to the smooth day-to-day functioning of the agency. Through this work, the Facilities and Operations assistant will help ensure that CMHA Peel Dufferin services across all office locations can be delivered with high quality and availability.


The placements are unpaid and will be up to 4 months long and for students looking to complete preferably 300 or more placement hours, beginning in Fall 2026. This placement has alternating shifts between 8:30AM to 7:00PM.


Status: Unpaid Post-Secondary Student Placement


Location: 314-7700 Hurontario St., Brampton. Due to the nature of this program, this role is hybrid.


What You Will Do:


  • Support internal teams by gathering requirements for process improvements and potential cross-functional solutions.
  • Assist with the creation of an environmental stewardship program for the agency.
  • Complete regular access card audits and assist in maintaining up-to-date records of staff access and office security protocols.
  • Create and update internal signage, ensuring that important health, safety, and operational notices are clearly displayed throughout agency facilities
  • Help coordinate internal and external meetings, including room bookings, setup.
  • Support small/ ongoing projects and tasks, including follow-ups and tracking action items for internal process initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to agency privacy policies and ethical guidelines at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings and relevant training sessions as part of the learning experience.
  • Provide general assistance to the Operational Services team as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Join Our Team:


  • Currently enrolled in a Operations management post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field or equivalent
  • Relevant experience with operations & facilities management, purchasing and vendor management an asset.
  • Experience working with non-profits or social service agencies an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Some evenings required and an ability to travel within Peel Region from time to time
