Assistant Project Manager

Assistant Project Manager - Construction
Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of mid- to large-scale construction projects across education, multifamily, senior living, healthcare, and commercial sectors. The role supports the Project Manager in controlling schedules, budgets, subcontractors and quality to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget project completion and excellent client relationships.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in planning, executing and closing construction projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate daytoday field activities and communicate clearly between site teams, subcontractors, vendors and clients.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of project schedules, monitors progress, identifies critical path issues and recommends corrective actions.
  • Prepare and track budgets, subcontracts, purchase orders, invoices and change orders; assist with cost forecasting and monthly cost reporting.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, drawings, as-built documentation and project correspondence through document management systems.
  • Support site safety and quality control efforts by enforcing company safety policies, attending safety meetings and coordinating inspections and punch lists.
  • Attend and prepare minutes for project meetings, coordinate meeting logistics and ensure timely follow-up on action items.
  • Help manage permitting, inspections and coordination with authorities having jurisdiction and thirdparty consultants.
  • Assist with client communication, progress reporting and presentation of schedule/budget status and risk mitigation plans.
  • Participate in preconstruction activities and handover processes, including closeout documentation, warranties and turnover to owners.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior field staff and coordinate training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction project support or assistant project management on commercial or institutional projects; experience in education, multifamily, senior living, healthcare or commercial sectors strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, contract types, and project lifecycle.
  • Experience with project management/document control software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid or similar; proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6 or equivalent) and ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors and regulatory agencies.
  • Basic estimating and costcontrol experience; comfort tracking budgets and preparing change order documentation.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices; OSHA 10 (minimum) required, OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel between job sites as required.
  • Preferred: certifications such as PMP, CCM, LEED AP or additional construction trade background.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, demonstrate problemsolving skills and contribute to a collaborative project team culture.
