Job description

The devices we make at SEL are embedded in the power grid. They prevent blackouts. They make outages safer and shorter in duration; they add cybersecurity, automation, and communication. They use cutting-edge technologies and operate at speeds that push other pieces of the grid to go faster. As a Project Manager in Infrastructure Defense, you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide. This position is available in either Pullman, WA or Charlotte, NC.

The Project Manager is a key member of the Project Management team and requires a variety of skills. Our typical projects can range from small, single deliverable projects to larger, multi-month or even multi-year projects. You will be involved from quoting to project close out. You will coordinate and track project activities between the end-user customer and the Engineering teams. Key duties include supporting quote preparation, schedule tracking, resource tracking, project finance, and technical deliverables. You will also engage with customer project managers, procurement, legal, and engineering team members.

As a Project Manager, a typical day might include the following:

  • Work closely with technical lead to control all aspects of project including schedule, budget, documentation, contracts, and account receivables.

  • Coordinate activities on multiple projects, with project team, customers and subcontractors.

  • Assist in the development and negotiation of proposals and project cost estimates.

  • Assist in ensuring project procedure compliance and document control.

This job might be for you if:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in related field

  • 6+ years of experience supporting project work

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including MS Project

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize

  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related Bachelor's and/or Master's degree

  • OSHA Safety Qualification knowledge

  • Experience using project management tools and software

  • Utility, commercial, or industrial contracts experience

  • Knowledge of accounting principles
