Title: Project Manager – Municipal / Transportation Engineering

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Project Manager – Municipal / Transportation Engineering. This opportunity is with a collaborative engineering firm supporting public infrastructure projects.

Job Duties:
  • Lead planning, design, and delivery of municipal and transportation engineering projects from concept through construction.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Oversee permitting, public engagement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform and review hydrology and hydraulic (H&H) modeling for sanitary, storm, and combined sewer systems.
  • Develop Location Drainage Studies or Technical Memoranda for federally or state-funded projects.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
  • Support business development through proposals and client presentations.
  • Actively participate in both design and construction phases of projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10 years of municipal and/or transportation engineering project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience with roadway, stormwater, sanitary utility, water/wastewater, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Familiarity with H&H modeling tools such as PCSWWM, Hydroflow, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of permitting processes and municipal standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
