We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead field operations on active heavy civil construction projects in the Sparwood, BC area. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall project performance, including cost control, scheduling, quality, reporting, and client satisfaction on moderate to high-complexity heavy civil projects. The Project Manager oversees daily site operations, coordinates field teams, and drives safe, efficient execution. This role requires strong heavy civil experience, clear communication, and proven leadership to deliver projects on time and on budget.

Responsibilities


  • Plan and oversee end-to-end delivery of assigned heavy civil projects, including risk identification, project planning, and contingency implementation
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within scope and budget, and in compliance with regulatory, environmental, and health and safety requirements
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, managing expectations and resolving issues to ensure client satisfaction
  • Demonstrate visible leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection on all projects
  • Ensure construction meets approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, quality standards, and applicable codes
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules in collaboration with the project team to meet milestones and completion dates
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate construction teams to achieve project goals
  • Track, manage, and report project financials, including forecasting and billings
  • Manage procurement activities, including subcontractor, trade, and supplier negotiations and awards

Required Qualifications & Skills


  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and extensive field-based experience in heavy civil construction
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing heavy civil construction projects, with demonstrated responsibility for schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and lead project teams in fast-paced, field-driven environments
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and collaborate effectively with superintendents, forepersons, and crews
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders through verbal, written, and electronic means
  • Experience on hydroelectric or hydro-related projects is considered a strong asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to various project sites as required
