Description

VMC Group is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead strategic, operational, and cross-functional initiatives across VMC Group and its operating companies. The Project Manager will be responsible for bringing structure, accountability, and visibility to high-priority initiatives across the organization. This individual will work closely with leaders across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, Human Resources, IT, and other functional areas to ensure projects are clearly defined, effectively executed, and aligned with the Company's strategic objectives.


This is a highly visible role requiring an individual who can operate comfortably at both the strategic and tactical levels. The successful candidate will be a strong project leader who can take an initiative from concept through implementation, coordinate multiple stakeholders, identify obstacles, drive accountability, and communicate progress and risks to leadership.


Responsibilities not limited to:


Strategic Project Management
  • Lead strategic and operational projects across VMC Group and its operating companies.
  • Translate business priorities into clearly defined project plans, objectives, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Manage projects from initiation through implementation and closeout.
  • Establish project priorities, ownership, dependencies, and measures of success.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure initiatives remain aligned with Company objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve execution, efficiency, profitability, and organizational effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead projects involving multiple functions and operating companies.
  • Coordinate teams across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, HR, IT, and other departments.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, deadlines, and accountability for project participants.
  • Facilitate project meetings and ensure action items and commitments are completed.
  • Build alignment among stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Influence and drive results without having direct authority over project team members.
Operations & Business Improvement
  • Lead initiatives focused on operational efficiency, process improvement, cost reduction, quality, customer service, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Work with operating company leaders to identify process gaps and develop practical solutions.
  • Support standardization and best-practice sharing across VMC Group companies where appropriate.
  • Develop project metrics and reporting to measure the impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication, workflow, productivity, and accountability.
Project Reporting & Communication
  • Provide leadership with concise, accurate, and timely project updates.
  • Develop project dashboards, status reports, and presentations.
  • Communicate project accomplishments, upcoming milestones, risks, issues, resource requirements, and decisions requiring leadership attention.
  • Proactively escalate issues and provide recommendations and potential solutions.
  • Maintain visibility across the Company's portfolio of strategic initiatives.
Project Governance & Process
  • Establish consistent project management practices, tools, templates, and reporting.
  • Maintain project schedules, action-item logs, risk registers, budgets, and other project documentation.
  • Develop standardized processes for project initiation, planning, execution, reporting, and closeout.
  • Track project dependencies and ensure potential conflicts are identified early.
  • Establish appropriate project KPIs and success measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or a multi-business environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional projects from concept through implementation.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, risk management, stakeholder management, and change management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Asana, Monday.com etc. 
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and business-process improvement initiatives preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management experience.
  • Manufacturing or engineered-products experience.
  • Experience working across multiple business units or operating companies.
  • ERP implementation, optimization, or integration experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience with organizational change management.
  • Experience developing dashboards and project portfolio reporting.
  • Experience managing projects involving technology, operations, process improvement, or business transformation.
