What you'll be doing

The Technology Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing technology infrastructure projects within the bank. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong project management skills and a solid understanding of technology infrastructure components. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards while ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic objectives. The US Technology Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Technology Infrastructure environment, providing a cost effective and secure infrastructure, and evolving the environment to meet the needs of the US Region. Technology Infrastructure is the entire collection of hardware, software, networks, data centers, facilities and related equipment used to develop, test, operate, monitor, manage and/or support information technology services. Additionally, you'll help increase the skillset of Project Managers within the Technology Operations role by contributing to the organizational knowledge of project management and delivery leadership through teaching, hosting learning sessions, and supporting the maturity of our Technology Operations Project Management Office.

How you'll succeed

  • Project Planning and Execution:Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and deliverables. Coordinate project activities, tasks, and dependencies to ensure successful execution and delivery.

  • Stakeholder Management:Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate project updates, and manage expectations. Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and partners to ensure alignment and support for project objectives.

  • Risk and Issue Management:Identify potential risks and issues that may impact project delivery and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively address challenges and obstacles to keep projects on track and within scope.

  • Resource Allocation and Management:Allocate resources effectively to support project activities and deliverables. Coordinate with resource managers to ensure availability of required personnel and skillsets.

  • Budget Tracking and Reporting:Monitor project budget and expenditures, tracking costs and ensuring adherence to financial constraints. Prepare regular reports and updates for stakeholders on project budget status and financial performance.

  • Quality Assurance:Define and enforce quality standards for project deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Conduct quality reviews and inspections to validate the completeness and accuracy of project outputs.

  • Change Management:Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and requirements, assessing impacts and obtaining approvals as necessary. Communicate changes effectively to stakeholders and project team members, ensuring understanding and buy-in.

  • Documentation and Knowledge Management:Maintain accurate project documentation, including plans, schedules, meeting minutes, and status reports. Establish a knowledge repository for lessons learned, best practices, and project artifacts to facilitate future projects. Contribute to the maturation journey of our Technology Operations PMO.

Who you are

  • You demonstrate a minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a focus on Technology Infrastructure projects, preferably within the banking or financial services industry. You have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL) required. You have a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and with high quality. You have a strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, with experience in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management approaches. You also have a sound understanding of technology infrastructure concepts, including data centers, networks, servers, storage, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. You have a proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Planview, JIRA) and collaboration tools for remote team management and communication. You have excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You can express oneself and communicate with others verbally; recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style, and structure.

  • You have the knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for gaining the cooperation and support of others, for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner, for effective use of a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks, and perspectives when solving problems.

  • You're able to navigate various Technology Operations & Application Development teams across multiple initiatives to identify & where appropriate resolve issues, dependencies, conflicts, and then efficiently drive key work.

  • You're able to work cross-functionally with Internal business partners and CIBC lines of businesses and their leadership teams, partner teams and centers of excellence.

  • You are a continuous learner who feels fullfillment in the growth of others and are excited to contribute to the deepening of delivery leadership within CIBC Tech Ops PMO.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $120,000- $140,000 based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
