About the Role
As a Project Engineer, you'll play a central role in daily project operations, ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals. You'll collaborate closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, design partners, and trade contractors to keep work progressing and maintain the high standards Barton Malow is known for.
This position requires flexibility to work on projects across the Carolinas and Georgia, with assignments based on project needs.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Coordination & Technical Support
  • Provide technical support to resolve and track project issues.
  • Serve as a liaison with architects, engineers, and owners regarding progress, changes, and coordination needs.
  • Support Superintendents in monitoring trade partner performance and schedule adherence.
  • Assist with site logistics planning and day-to-day field coordination.

Documentation & Controls
  • Process and track submittals and RFIs to ensure timely review and compliance.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, document discussions, and lead coordination meetings when needed.
  • Support plan review and approval processes with local and state municipalities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and turnover requirements.

Schedule, Change, & Cost Support
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining the project schedule.
  • Receive, review, and evaluate contractor quotations for changes.
  • Prepare and process change orders with accuracy and attention to detail.

Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and enforce corporate safety policies on the jobsite.
  • Support a proactive, people-first safety culture.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of professional experience (including internships) in construction or a related industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation and follow established processes.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety.
  • VDC/BIM experience is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work on projects throughout NC, SC, and GA
