Job Description:
The ideal candidate will support U.S. military Modeling & Simulation (M&S) efforts under the guidance of senior developers at our Suffolk, Virginia headquarters. This entry-level role involves assisting in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of simulation systems used for training, analysis, and decision support in defense environments. The candidate will work closely with experienced team members to develop foundational skills in software engineering while gaining exposure to military systems, simulation standards, and real-time/constructive simulations.
The candidate performs the following specific assignments:
  • Assists in developing simulation software for military training and analysis under senior supervision
  • Supports software development efforts using established coding standards and best practices
  • Learns and applies simulation frameworks such as HLA (High-Level Architecture) and DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation)
  • Contributes to the development of simulation scenarios, models, and system behaviors
  • Participates in software testing and quality assurance activities
  • Assists with integrating models and simulations with C4ISR systems and external interfaces
  • Supports technical documentation efforts including design specifications and test plans
  • Collaborates with team members to translate basic military requirements into software components
  • Participates in code reviews and learns from senior developers
  • Maintains version control practices and follows configuration management procedures
  • Assists with compliance of software development standards and security guidelines
Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 1-3 years of software development experience (internships and academic projects count)
  • Basic proficiency in one or more programming languages: C++, C#, Java, or Python
  • Understanding of fundamental software engineering principles
Experience Desired:
