Role: Software Developer, Application - Journeyman 
Location: Elizabeth City, NC (Onsite with Hybrid)
Duration: Long Term Contract
Visa: US Citizen
 
Pay Rate: $21-$25/hr. on 1099 all inc
 
Position Summary:
Oasys is seeking a Software Developer, Application - Journeyman to support the design, development, modification, testing, troubleshooting, implementation, and documentation of application software and specialized utility programs. The successful candidate will analyze user and business requirements, develop and enhance software solutions, support full software development lifecycle activities, and work closely with technical teams and end users to deliver reliable, efficient applications in an Agile DevSecOps environment.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop, create, modify, test, troubleshoot, debug, refine, and document computer applications and specialized utility programs.
  • Analyze user needs, functional requirements, business processes, workflows, and system capabilities to develop or improve software solutions.
  • Participate in software application engineering throughout the full application/system development lifecycle, including requirements, analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation.
  • Translate detailed designs and specifications into working software, including code, forms, scripts, logic flow charts, and related application components.
  • Perform software and application testing, including benchmark, integration, functional, acceptance, and regression testing, and support the resolution of identified defects.
  • Support application design and development involving relational databases and Database Management Systems (DBMS), including data analysis, modeling, implementation, and testing.
  • Assess system architecture, application interfaces, hardware/software compatibility, and technical limitations and assist in resolving complex application and integration issues.
  • Create, modify, and maintain technical and user documentation, including system documentation, user manuals, training materials, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Enhance and refine existing applications to improve performance, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and operating time.
  • Support software integration with computer operating systems, network systems, databases, and other applications; troubleshoot application and software operating issues.
  • Work closely with end users and Government stakeholders to analyze and document requirements, support project development and implementation, and ensure client needs are addressed.
  • Support software reuse, domain analysis, configuration management, formal specifications, data flow diagrams, accepted design techniques, and applicable development tools.
  • Estimate software development effort, costs, schedules, and support assigned project milestones and delivery deadlines.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on application design, development, execution, and modernization.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant software, development tools, platforms, methodologies, and technologies and participate in special projects as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of software requirements management, application design, coding, testing, debugging, architecture, documentation, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Experience working in an Agile DevSecOps software development environment and with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket, or equivalent tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of relational database environments, structured analysis, data modeling, information engineering, and application/database integration.
  • Ability to analyze complex system and business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Experience developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining application code, forms, scripts, and supporting software components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software and application issues and support integration across operating, network, and database environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, technical teams, end users, and Government/client stakeholders.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or at minimum an IT certification. Two (2) years of relevant experience may substitute for one (1) year of education.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the definition and management of software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, software development lifecycle, architecture, and documentation, including planning and performing software design, coding, and testing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of program/project-level experience in software design.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Agile DevSecOps software development environment and methodologies.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket, or equivalent technologies.
Preferred Certifications:
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or equivalent Kubernetes/container certification.
  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or other relevant AWS certification.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Azure Developer Associate, or equivalent cloud certification.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile/Scrum certification.
  • Atlassian Jira/Confluence or other relevant DevOps, software development, cloud, or Agile certifications.
Clearance:
  • US Citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable Tier 1 background investigation (Public Trust) for access to unclassified systems.
