Overview:

Responsible for overseeing inplant operations at the assigned customer. 80% or greater work time will be allocated to assigned location. This includes responsibility for maintaining operating expenses, employee development, employee performance monitoring, implementing standard procedures, key performance indicator reporting, vacation coverage scheduling, and Safety. This exempt level position will manage 10+ employees at the customer site(s). This individual is expected to manage personnel and team development matters and must be equipped with measurable expertise in customer relation skills, negotiation skills, and must be even tempered and flexible in management techniques. This individual will only need occasional input from next level management (Regional InPlant Manager). Will work closely with the account team including CTS manager, Key account manager, Key account technical manager, and lab team to ensure success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Function as point person in operational inplant matters for the customer and Sun Chemical. Coordinates with Sales, CTS, and CSC leadership to ensure proper technical support within the given customer.
  • With support of Regional Inplant Manager, assists scheduling coverage of the assigned inplant operation during vacation, holiday, etc.
  • Completion of in plant personnel performance management reviews, coordinate in plant personnel training and employee development programs, collaborate closely with Regional Manager and HR regarding employee relation matters. Address personnel performance.
  • Takes leadership role in Continuous Process Improvement activities within the inplant including inventory management of raw materials and press return inventory levels and optimization.
  • Prepares monthly reports to keep management informed.
  • As needed, perform color match, produce and quality control inks to ensure inks meet/exceed the customer’s specifications. Maintain detailed production and QC records.
  • Provide strong expertise level press side technical support including support of and execution of technical projects.
  • Ensure adherence to all inplant SOPs and KPI performance.
  • Directs Housekeeping and Safe operations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Technical Degree (BS); or equivalent level of industry experience.
  • 7+ years general industry management experience; and 3+ years printing or chemical industry related experience.
  • Experienced in dispensing software platforms (Novaflow, SPEC, Mixmaster, etc.)
  • Experienced in color matching technologies (X-Rite, Sun Color Box, etc.)
  • Must have strong ink room and printing process knowledge.
  • This is a customer facing position that requires a higher degree of interpersonal skill.
  • Strong written communication skills for reporting
