As a Business Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Develop and execute a business growth strategy for medical device manufacturers, OEMs, and contract manufacturing organizations.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within target accounts and market segments.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders including engineering, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, and executive leadership.
  • Lead the sales process from prospecting through opportunity qualification, application development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical, marketing, and sales teams to align products and solutions with customer application requirements.
  • Understand customer needs related to performance, quality, validation, and regulatory expectations.
  • Develop account plans for strategic customers and drive penetration into new programs, sites, and applications.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecasting, and opportunity tracking process using CRM tools.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to identify growth opportunities and risks.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Support pricing strategy, contract discussions, and commercial negotiations in alignment with business objectives.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer by communicating market requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to support customer satisfaction, continuity of supply, and issue resolution.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of combined experience working sales and / or marketing in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with medical device materials, components, manufacturing processes, product design, or production environments.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex sales cycles and strategic customer relationships.
  • Technical aptitude to translate customer application needs into commercial opportunities.
  • Experience working with global or multi-site customers.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with key account management
  • Experience partnering with Value-Added Resellers like Distribution and Converters
  • Possess broad knowledge of multiple related disciplines.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience analyzing point of sale, CRM, and other business intelligence data to recommend promotional growth programs.

Work location:

  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in St. Paul, MN USA location

Travel: May include up to 50% domestic
