Job description

About the role:

As Project Manager for capital improvement projects, you will be responsible for all project management processes on low or medium complexity projects. Requires leading small teams (up to 10 team members), which may include project controls. Perform project management tasks in knowledge areas such as Integration, Scope, Schedule, Cost, Quality, Resource, Communication, Risk, Procurement, and Partner Management.

You will report to the Project Manager Office Manager and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop charter and initial funding request following established stage gate process.
  • Complete all aspects of planning processes, including development of project plans, scope statement, schedule, budget, and integrate baselines.
  • Manage project execution to achieve quality, schedule, and financial goals while following department protocols and the stage gate process.
  • Facilitate and maintain requirements traceability matrix and risk registers.
  • Preparation and oversight of project cost expenditures and capital forecasting.
  • Understand important project performance metrics such as EV, SPI, and CPI.
  • Develop and oversee project databases and systems to ensure efficient handling and transmission of both internal and external project correspondence and documentation.
  • Manage project changes following integrated change control protocols.
  • Close project following stage gate process by capitalizing assets, archiving work in financial, schedule, document management, and resource management systems or tools.
  • Perform final project quality and financial assessments and stage gate report out. Identify opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or business.
  • Familiarization with the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK); CAPM certification.
  • Four (4) years' project management experience. Or a combination of two (2) experience as a project manager and two (2) years' experience in manufacturing or technical industry environment.
  • Well-versed in Schedule Theory and Cost Management; experience with MS Project and Primavera P6.
