Job Summary:
The State Government Finance and System Project Manager leads public-sector modernization engagements. This role serves as a trusted advisor embedded within state, county, and municipal agencies to drive enterprise software initiatives, business process optimizations, and strategic IT transformations. The Project Manager manages client relationships, directs cross-functional project teams, and ensures the successful delivery of varying client-side milestones across multiple simultaneous or sequential engagements.
Job Duties:
  • Provides project management support for client project management teams leading software selection, implementations, and system integrations
  • Handles core systems and staff augmentation roles
  • Develops, builds, and revises procedures and client playbooks for system rollouts
  • Helps to protect clients from vendor scope creep and monitors project risks
  • Oversees documentation, project timelines, and internal and vendor-facing deliverables
  • Other duties as required to support changing client needs across different agency engagements

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises, develops, and trains Project Manager Associates and Senior Associates
  • Reviews and evaluates work of the Associates and Senior Associates
  • Provides verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Senior Associates

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Business, Accounting or Finance, preferred

Experience:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in project management, required
  • Familiar with ERP systems & technology implementation best practices (eg. Infor, Workday, Netsuite, Tyler, OpenGov, etc.), preferred
  • Experience with State and Local Government, nonprofit, and other highly regulated industries, preferred

License/Certifications:
  • CAPM or PMP, required
  • SmartSheet certifications, preferred

Software:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required
  • SmartSheet experience, preferred
  • SharePoint experience, preferred

Language:
  • N/A

Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business / report writing
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills
  • Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
Maryland Range: $120,000 - $165,000
New Jersey Range: $120,000 - $165,000
