Role Overview

This is an opportunity to lead a high-impact digital transformation portfolio that connects engineering tools, data, and processes across ATS globally. The Technical Product Manager, Digital Transformation will help shape how engineering teams work, scale new digital capabilities, and deliver measurable improvements in speed, visibility, and collaboration across the business.

The Technical Product Manager, Digital Transformation is responsible for driving the roadmap, adoption, and continuous evolution of ATS Industrial Automation’s digital engineering platform and related Automation (A) digital transformation initiatives. Working closely with engineering stakeholders, the Digital Innovation team, and software development partners, this role translates business and engineering needs into clear technical requirements, prioritizes roadmap and backlog activities, and supports the successful rollout of digital capabilities that improve engineering efficiency, visibility, and collaboration. This position acts as the primary bridge between mechanical, controls, electrical, systems engineering, software development, and business leadership to deliver measurable value through ATS’s digital transformation strategy.

Specific Responsibilities

•    Own and maintain the digital transformation product roadmap, including prioritization of platform capabilities, engineering efficiency initiatives, and related innovation projects.
•    Act as the key liaison between engineering groups and software development teams, translating mechanical, controls, electrical, and systems engineering needs into clear product requirements.
•    Gather stakeholder and customer feedback through structured voice-of-customer activities, engineering engagement, and ongoing discovery to inform roadmap priorities.
•    Lead roadmap planning, backlog prioritization, sprint alignment, and regular communication of requirements to the Digital Innovation and software development teams.
•    Partner with engineering stakeholders to support adoption, change management, training readiness, and continuous improvement of digital tools and platform capabilities.
•    Support innovation project governance, including ROI assessments, business cases, gate reviews, reporting, forecasting, risk tracking, and stakeholder updates.
•    Identify technical, process, and resource gaps that may impact development or adoption and work with Innovation leadership to resolve roadblocks.
•    Collaborate with Digital Innovation leadership on software architecture considerations, cloud-based platform direction, AI/ML opportunities, and broader digital strategy.
•    Support the transition of digital capabilities from innovation development into sustainable engineering usage, including support models, documentation, training, and operational readiness.
•    Promote the use of ATS Business Model tools and standard processes as they apply to digital innovation and engineering transformation initiatives.
•    Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
•    Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Project Management Professional (PMP), Product Owner, Agile, or related project/product management certification is considered an asset.

Experience:
•    5+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, project management, software/digital product delivery, or digital transformation within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial automation, or technology environment.
•    Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, with the ability to engage effectively with mechanical, controls, electrical, systems engineering, and software development stakeholders.
•    Demonstrated experience owning or supporting product roadmaps, backlog prioritization, requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and delivery planning.
•    Experience implementing or supporting digital solutions, software platforms, engineering tools, or technology-enabled process improvements in engineering or manufacturing environments.
•    Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business and engineering needs into software development requirements and align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•    Project management experience including status reporting, forecasting, business case development, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
•    Ability to work primarily on-site in Cambridge, Ontario to build strong working relationships with engineering stakeholders and support adoption of digital transformation initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Systems Engineering background is strongly preferred; experience in Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is also an asset.
•    Exposure to software architecture, web-based platforms, cloud technologies, Microsoft Azure, AI/ML, engineering data platforms, or product lifecycle management systems is an asset.
•    Agile software development experience, Product Owner experience, or experience working directly with software development teams is preferred.

The Compensation offered will be based on the local job market and may vary depending on factors such as the job-related knowledge, skills, experience of the selected candidate, as well as other objective business considerations.
