The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings that include public, municipal, private, and Federal project types across the region and globally. With a team of experienced staff in specific market sectors such as Healthcare, Science and Technology, Data Centers, Higher Education, Federal, Transportation, Water, and Resources facilities, we provide engineering excellence for our clients. We have an industry leading focus on sustainable design and energy conservation.

The HDR BES group in New Jersey is looking for a Senior ICT/Security Designer, we'll count on you to:

  • Evaluate, select, and apply state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)/ Electronic Security Systems (ESS), techniques, procedures, design and modifications.
  • Design and specify ICT/ESS including but not limited to Structured Cabling, Backbone/Horizontal cabling, ESS (Access Control, Camera System and Intrusion Detection Systems, public address systems and other similar low voltage systems.
  • Take responsibility for complete set of construction documents.
  • Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables.
  • Independently perform ICT/ESS engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected.
  • Select and recommend procedures, ICT/ESS devices and equipment; write specifications covering ICT/ESS matters; perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team.
  • Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of security design process.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPP certification 
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) or PSP (Physical Security Professional) is a plus.
  • Local candidates are preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in security system design and familiarity with Autodesk
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) helpful
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
