Description:
The IT PMO Knowledge & Standards Expert supports project management governance, standards, documentation, and process consistency within the IT Project & Portfolio Management Office (PPMO). This role helps ensure project managers, PMO leads, and IT leaders have clear frameworks, templates, guidance, and tools to execute projects consistently and in alignment with PMO standards.
This position serves as a key resource for PMO process management, documentation, and continuous improvement. The role focuses on authoring and maintaining PMO knowledge materials, supporting stage-gate governance, improving data quality and standards compliance, and driving adoption of project management best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead PMO governance and standards activities across the IT organization
  • Author new PMO handbooks, standards, process documentation, and guidance materials
    Edit, update, and maintain existing templates, playbooks, job aids, and reference content
  • Manage and improve PMO processes, including stage-gate governance across Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Close phases
  • Develop and publish project management artifact templates and documentation
  • Support compliance to PMO standards through documentation reviews and project data quality audits
  • Provide training, onboarding, and guidance to project managers on PMO processes, tools, and standards
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with PMO leads to review updates, issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Support PMO-related organizational change management and adoption efforts
  • Maintain PMO content within Teams, SharePoint, and other knowledge repositories
  • Track governance actions, process updates, and follow-up items from project review meetings
  • Provide advanced support to project managers on PMO practices, templates, and standards

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • 5-8+ years of experience in IT PMO, project governance, project management methodology, process management, or related roles
  • Strong writing, editing, and documentation skills, including experience creating standards, handbooks, templates, or process materials
  • Experience managing and improving structured project or business processes in a large enterprise environment
  • Experience supporting project governance, stage-gate processes, or project lifecycle standards
  • Experience working with project managers, PMO leads, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex processes into clear, practical documentation

Qualifications:
  • PMI certification such as PMP or Program Management Professional (PgMP)
  • Experience developing PMO playbooks, SOPs, templates, training materials, or knowledge content
  • Experience leading process standardization or continuous improvement efforts
  • Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and project portfolio management tools such as Planview
  • Experience conducting project audits, compliance reviews, or data quality assessments
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
