Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Materials & Test Equipment (M&TE) Specialist opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

The M&TE Specialist / Technician will support the project Quality organization by maintaining control of Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) used for construction inspection and testing. This position ensures equipment is properly identified, calibrated, traceable, documented, and suitable for use in accordance with project quality requirements.

Duties:
  • Maintain the project M&TE inventory, database, calibration records, and equipment status.
  • Track calibration due dates and coordinate calibration, repair, replacement, and return of equipment.
  • Review calibration certificates for accuracy, acceptance, and traceability to applicable standards.
  • Issue and receive M&TE and verify equipment is properly identified, labeled, and within calibration prior to use.
  • Perform field inventories and verify M&TE is properly stored, protected, controlled, and used.
  • Identify and remove expired, damaged, out-of-calibration, or otherwise unacceptable equipment from service.
  • Support evaluation and documentation of out-of-tolerance or out-of-calibration conditions.
  • Coordinate with QC Inspectors, Quality Engineering, Construction, Field Engineering, Materials, subcontractors, and calibration vendors.
  • Review subcontractor M&TE and calibration documentation when equipment is used for acceptance inspections or testing.
  • Maintain complete M&TE records for audits, assessments, quality records, and project turnover.
  • Support audits and surveillances of M&TE and calibration activities.
Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with M&TE, metrology, calibration, measuring equipment, or inspection/test equipment control in construction, nuclear, DOE, power generation, manufacturing, or another regulated industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of calibration practices, equipment identification and control, calibration intervals, and measurement traceability.
  • Experience reviewing calibration certificates and maintaining M&TE/calibration records.
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and computer/database skills.
  • Experience may include torque wrenches, pressure gauges, multimeters, megohmmeters, temperature instruments, calipers, micrometers, levels, welding gauges, coating thickness gauges, load cells, and other measuring or test equipment used for civil, mechanical, electrical, welding, and construction Quality activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with nuclear, DOE, NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, or other regulated Quality programs.
  • Familiarity with NIST traceability, ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, or similar calibration requirements.
