About Brighton Solutions

Brighton Solutions is partnering with a well-established civil engineering consulting firm to identify an experienced Transportation Project Manager to lead transportation infrastructure projects throughout Northern Illinois. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed civil engineer who enjoys managing complex projects, mentoring engineering teams, and building strong client relationships while contributing to impactful roadway and transportation improvements. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-profile transportation infrastructure projects.

Position Overview

As a Transportation Project Manager, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of transportation engineering projects, including IDOT, county, and municipal work. You will be responsible for managing project delivery, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, maintaining client relationships, and supporting business development efforts to expand transportation services throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple transportation engineering projects through various phases, including IDOT Phase I, II, and III projects.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams while providing technical leadership and mentorship.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with public agencies, municipalities, counties, and transportation clients.
  • Collaborate with business development efforts by identifying upcoming opportunities and supporting pursuit strategies.
  • Monitor project backlog, workload, and performance to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable IDOT standards, local agency requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Support proposal preparation, project presentations, and client meetings as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or reciprocal state license to obtain Illinois licensure.
  • 7+ years of experience managing transportation engineering projects.
  • Strong background in IDOT roadway and bridge design projects.
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineering staff.
  • Knowledge of county and municipal transportation projects is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer, and Adobe software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

This position is offered with a competitive compensation structure, matching 401(k) plan, strong medical benefits, a flexible work environment and excellent professional development. This role would suite an established Transportation Project Manager or an experienced Transportation Project Engineer ready for that next career step.
