About This Role:

Giant Tiger is looking for a Health & Safety Project Intern to join our team for a four-month, full-time paid internship and support the delivery of a key initiative: our Health & Safety Store Excellence Program.

In this role, you'll work directly with more than 120 Giant Tiger stores across Ontario, helping Store Owner/Managers navigate the program from application through completion. You'll process and track applications, maintain information in our internal portal, and provide responsive support to stores throughout the process.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on Health & Safety experience while taking ownership of work that has a real business impact-the program helps participating stores save thousands of dollars per location. You'll build experience in program coordination, stakeholder support, data and records management, and working within a large Canadian retailer.

Workplace Arrangements:

This is a hybrid role wherein you can expect to be onsite 2-3 days per week. You can work out of our Ottawa Home Office on Walkley road, or our Johnstown, Ontario Distribution Centre on 1 Giant Tiger Boulevard.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Working in a team environment on special projects

  • Learning about legislative requirements, mostly Ontario, but most provinces are included.

  • Assisting stores with implementing occupational health and safety programs.

  • Building and compiling occupational health and safety program content across the business.

What You'll Bring:

  • Recent graduate or currently enrolled in a Health and Safety or Human Resource program

  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Desire to conduct clerical and administrative tasks

  • Ability to exhibit patience when performing repetitive tasks, ensuring consistent quality

  • Computers skills with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Good communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety.
