Welcome University of Arizona College of Pharmacy students that will be entering their 2nd year in the Fall!

Job Summary
The Pharmacy Intern will assist licensed pharmacists in various aspects of pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, patient care, and inventory management. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, enhancing the intern's understanding of hospital pharmacy practice and contributing to improved patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Other Enrollment in an approved program with the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) required
  • 0-1 years Introductory or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience as a part of training program. required

Licenses and Certifications

  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech State Pharmacy Intern or Technician Registration/Permit required

Essential Functions

  • Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications according to prescriptions and established protocols.
  • Participates in medication reconciliation and assist in managing medication therapy for patients as required.
  • Supports the maintenance of accurate inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking medications.
  • Collaborates with healthcare teams to gather medication histories and provide patient education under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Performs routine checks on medication storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in pharmacy rounds and assist with clinical activities as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all pharmacy-related activities and interventions.
  • Engages in continuing education opportunities and contribute to departmental projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
