This senior position allows you to be involved in the leadership of the projects from start-to-finish, mentor, work on potential pursuits of additional projects, develop project plans, schedules, and budgets. This position could lead to a business development position while utilizing your technical aptitude.

Location: Burlington, VT

Situated in the heart of Burlington's downtown district, our office sits high on the fourth floor of the Wells-Richardson historic building overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain waterfront and Adirondack Mountains.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage transportation engineering projects from inception to completion
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Monitor and manage resources to complete projects in accordance with the contract, scope of services, budget, and schedule. Efficiently and effectively use Deltek and other management tools
  • Lead and assemble a qualified project team to successfully complete complex projects or challenging client deliverables on time and within budget
  • Provide superior client service by responding to needs and understanding concerns
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines
  • Achieve excellent financial performance for Hoyle Tanner
  • Maintain and foster team engagement and satisfaction in completing project tasks and collaborating with subconsultants and other disciplines
  • Resolve team personnel conflicts in conjunction with supervisors
  • Lead efforts in pursuit of potential projects and the development of technical and price proposals
  • Promptly invoice for services rendered and advocate for outstanding accounts receivable
  • Monitor product quality and ensure a quality management plan is developed with roles defined accordingly
  • Keep Principal-In-Charge informed of potential claims or contract risks as they arise and collaborate on resolution strategies as needed
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to other project managers

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree (preferred)
  • PE License in one or more New England States
  • 15+ years of increasing engineering or planning and leadership experience
  • At least 5 years of experience as a project manager
  • Strong communication skills, an acute understanding of project finances, scheduling, and client management skills
  • Salary is contingent on experience
