What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects of project management for moderately complex engineering project assignments ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Act as Owner's Representative for capital projects execution at Mobile and Baton Rouge sites.

  • Provide support for the management of projects from project submission (Capital Kickoff) through final project closure (including scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, startup, and project closure documentation).

  • Manage construction contractors for execution of field work in the piping, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation, civil/structural disciplines.

  • Advocate for strong safety awareness with a consistent implementation of policies and procedures and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings. Enforce strong safety culture and target zero Recordables.

  • Prepare bid packages and requests for proposals (RFP) for materials, equipment, and services. Condition bids received to ensure best-value vendor selection.

  • Responsible for forecasting and managing capital expenditures monthly. Also includes management of earned value metrics and project status updates in "EcoSys" project management database.

  • Interface with key site and company personnel to make maximum use of available resources. Such functions will include, but not limited to, site engineering resources, purchasing, operations, and business engineering, as well as equipment vendors, contracting firms.

  • Oversee appropriate maintenance, retention, and modification of project records and controlled documents.

  • Perform monthly goods receipts and invoicing reviews of equipment and service purchase orders.

  • Perform project control activities such as estimating, cost control, scheduling updates.

  • Travel may be required to other plants, vendors, suppliers, etc. as needed to meet project scope.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial engineering and project management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suites, SAP, EcoSys, and other Project Management software is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Hargrove project execution procedures.

  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.

  • Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex project management.

  • Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.

  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.

  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
