Project Engineer - Detroit, MI - Building Automation & Controls ProjectsAbout the Role:

This Project Engineer role is central to delivering high-quality building automation system (BAS) projects throughout the Detroit metro area. You'll oversee projects from initial kickoff through final turnover, combining technical controls experience with strong coordination skills. Acting as the key link between field installers, programmers, and clients, you'll ensure each BAS project is executed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee BAS projects through all stages, from kickoff through completion
  • Coordinate manpower needs, delivery logistics, and milestone schedules
  • Troubleshoot and support installation and startup of BAS hardware/software
  • Assist with programming adjustments and sequence modifications when required
  • Lead commissioning tasks and ensure point-to-point validation is completed
  • Work with Software Engineers to align programming timelines and deliverables

  • Prepare, submit, and track RFIs and change orders
  • Maintain communication with owners, GCs, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Guide successful project closeout and ensure all turnover documents are issued

  • Experience as a Project Engineer or Project Technician within BAS or HVAC controls
  • Strong understanding of BAS systems, sequences, field devices, and integration
  • Effective communication and strong organization abilities
  • Ability to manage technical details while driving project goals independently or in teams
