Job description

Join a dynamic team where you'll lead engineering initiatives across two key plants, driving innovation in utilities, refrigeration, energy systems, and infrastructure to keep operations running safely and efficiently. The Plant Engineer will manage plant engineering objectives for the Redmond and Bellingham plants. Primary responsibilities include execution of capital projects, oversight of plant utility, refrigeration, energy management systems, and improvement of operations infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Creates a positive and proactive safety culture. Demonstrates strong commitment and leadership to providing a sustainable, safe, and healthful work environment. Ensures full compliance with all applicable company and regulatory environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the site capital plan for the Redmond and Bellingham facilities (multi-year).
  • Manage a portfolio of multiple concurrent, site-scale capital projects, with individual project values typically ranging from $50K to $500K.
  • Partner with Process Engineering, Controls Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations to identify, scope, and prioritize capital needs.Serve as subject matter expert for plant utilities, including ammonia and Freon refrigeration, compressed air, steam, HVAC, water, electrical distribution, and fire protection systems.
  • Lead planning and execution of annual site shutdowns and major outages.
  • Maintain accurate utility system drawings and documentation.
  • Develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for capital projects involving utilities, refrigeration, and operations infrastructure.
  • Lead capital projects involving process equipment, utilities, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, steam, electrical, structural, and infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to execute projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Support project handover and training for operations and maintenance staff.
  • Provide technical support for resolving recurring equipment and infrastructure issues.
  • Champion root cause analysis for failures and implements corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving, reliability, and energy-efficiency initiatives.
  • Support plant shutdowns for major repairs, tie-ins, or system upgrades.
  • Maintain and support PSM/RMP programs for ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools (vibration, thermal, oil analysis) to reduce downtime and prevent failures.
  • Conduct risk assessments for utility and facility projects.

Required
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field).
โ€ข 3-8 years of experience managing technical capital projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
โ€ข Demonstrated experience leading projects ranging from small upgrades to multi-million-dollar site projects.
โ€ข Strong understanding of capital planning, scheduling, project execution, and cost controls.
โ€ข Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical and equipment drawings, and technical specifications; perform basic equipment/line sizing and layout using 2D AutoCAD.
