Hexcel is currently seeking a Project Engineer for our Kent, WA USA location. The Project Engineer leads capital projects from concept through implementation, driving improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and infrastructure across multiple sites. This role is responsible for project execution, capital budget management, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.

Summary pay range: $85,354 - $146,320 annual salary or hourly wage rate.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Lead and execute capital projects for the assigned manufacturing facility and support capital initiatives at a secondary regional facility from planning and design through implementation and hand-off.
  • Manage the site capital spending program, including annual capital planning, capital expenditure requests, forecasting, tracking, reconciliation, and monthly spending targets.
  • Scope and estimate capital projects up to $5M, author capital expenditure requests, manage procurement, control cost and schedule, identify resources, and coordinate across project stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
  • Read, interpret, prepare, and maintain engineering drawings and technical specifications; design, evaluate, and troubleshoot systems related to instruments, controls, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer processes.
  • Execute projects safely and efficiently with minimal operational impact, support commissioning/startup/qualification activities, and communicate project status and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering with at least 5 years of relevant engineering or related experience.
  • Experience managing capital projects or project engineering responsibilities in a manufacturing environment, including leading or working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of engineering disciplines, including instrumentation, electrical, civil, mechanical, and chemical, with the ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and deadline-management skills, with the ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Preferred experience with safety analysis, mechanical design drawings, Six Sigma improvement principles, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, material balances, international projects, and travel as required.
