The Project Engineer will support our project teams in performing the technical aspects of managing the construction project by processing shop drawings, document control, request for information (RFI's), submittals, change management, and other related activities.
Job Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this job.
  • Assists the project staff in coordination, scheduling, quantity surveying, reporting, and quality control functions.
  • Works with the Project Manager to establish a cost reporting, reviewing, and tracking system for project components and change orders.
  • Assists in managing allowance tracking logs.
  • Manages drawings, drawing records, revisions, and ASIs and effectively communicates these to all trades.
  • Takes notes and issues meeting minutes for all applicable meetings.
  • Assists with preparation of bid packages and procurement.
  • Manages the submittal process, review, and distribution as well as RFIs.
  • Manages BIM MEP 3D Coordination.
  • Ensures operation and maintenance manuals are completed according to standards.
  • Assist field personnel in managing quality control.
  • Contribute to the management of job activities in accordance with Bouten's policies and procedures and within the bounds of the project contract.
  • Manages subcontractor and supplier relationships and performance directly or in partnership with the Bouten project manager in support of the project. Serves as the interface between jobsite activities, the Bouten main office, and the subcontractor and/or supplier.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of quality control programs and life safety checkout procedures.
  • Prepare and manage procurement tracking logs to correlate with the project schedule and the demands of the project.
  • Monitors and enforces, along with project team, Bouten's safety and OSHA safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, and site visitors.
  • Assures compliance by becoming intimately familiar with the assigned project plans and specifications. Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
  • Reviews plans from the standpoint of value analysis and constructability, ensuring appropriate materials and utilized. Communicates inconsistencies to the architect.
  • Researches construction problems.
  • Performs work sampling. Observes and analyzes work methods, techniques, and procedures to advise superintendent on improvement of production efficiency.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or other relevant degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Project Engineering experience working for a commercial general contractor.
  • Commercial Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency project management software (Procore, etc.) and standard business software (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
