Job description

Project Civil/Environmental Engineer

Arcadis is seeking a self-starting and experienced Project Civil/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of projects throughout the United States. As a Project Engineer you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on various activities in support of civil design and environmental permitting projects for a diverse project portfolio, including projects in the energy, industrial, and transportation sectors associated with site development, reclamation, and restoration projects. The position will require experience with federal and state environmental permitting.

Role Accountabilities

Responsibilities will include working with project managers and team members to develop engineering designs for permitting or construction permits. The candidate should have demonstrated experience with the management of civil or environmental engineering projects, including land development and associated planning, soil and erosion control design, and stormwater permitting. The candidate should also be able to analyze documentation including technical reports, construction submittals, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to understand site characteristics (e.g., geotechnical properties, terrain, hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics, etc.) to support design development. The candidate will also need to review applicable regulations, permitting requirements, and standards. Based on interpretation of data and regulatory constraints, the candidate will develop civil engineering designs on projects of varying complexity. The candidate will be responsible for producing quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several assignments.

This role will primarily be office based; however, as needed, you will need to conduct field assignments, including participating in face-to-face client, technical, and other stakeholder meetings. This role will require the ability to travel up to 15%. Additional responsibilities will require the delegation of work and mentorship to junior engineers, participating in and facilitating group meetings, and effectively working with the project team, including local, national, and global technical and client teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience
  • Fluent with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
  • Professional Engineering license(s)
  • Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control
  • VADEQ-Certified Plan Reviewer and Inspector for Erosion and Sediment Control and/or for Stormwater Management

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $82,400 - $123,600.
