Description
Modern Railway Systems, the systems subsidiary of Stacy Witbeck is hiring a Project Engineer to help deliver our work on the east coast. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic Team that prioritizes mentorship, training, and having fun. This Team has a lot of horsepower, and they are looking for a teammate who brings self-starting energy that will add value on day one. The project will include Signal and Communication design and construction as well as OCS and Track construction. Being the liaison between project management and field operations, you will oversee and execute the technical, planning, and administrative aspects of the projects to ensure they are completed per the specifications, safely, on time, and within budget. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Field Engineering:   
Provide on-site technical support and assist in field layout, coordinating and supporting construction and installation activities. Conduct field walks to verify construction progress.


Document Control & Technical Support:
Manage RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure field teams have accurate, up-to-date drawings and specifications. Review new issue drawings and handle subcontractor inquiries. Update project logs and attend progress meetings.

Planning & Scheduling: Collaborate with superintendents to develop project schedules, 4-week look-ahead schedules, and monitor progress.


Subcontractor Coordination:
Support and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget.
 

Cost Control & Quantity Takeoffs:
Track quantities, perform cost coding, prepare monthly cost projections, and manage material procurement.
 

Quality & Safety Control:
Ensuring site work adheres to safety regulations, and quality standards. Inspect installed work to ensure compliance with contract plans and safety regulations (OSHA), including identifying deficiencies and coordinating corrections.

 
Troubleshooting: Resolving onsite interface issues and other field constraints.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
**Please note--Requirements are essential, and preferences have flexibility.

Education:
      B.S. Degree in Construction Management or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent years of experience in related field.


REQUIREMENTS
*Relocation is not available for this opportunity.
  • 2-6 years of experience as a Field or Project Engineer working on Heavy Civil, Systems and/or Rail Transit projects.
  •  RFI and Submittal creation and tracking.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Bluebeam, MS Office Suites, Teams
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel for project needs, corporate events and trainings.

PREFERENCES
  • Procore, HCSS, HeavyBid and AutoCAD experience is a plus.
