Position Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) position at Murray Company is an elevated role in construction project management, and plays a critical role in the success of each project. As an experienced Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside best-in-industry project managers and field leaders within our Underground / Civil division supporting specialty projects in site utility work. This role provides business and administrative support to facilitate the planning and coordination of activities of assigned project to ensure that goals and objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Location

Cypress, CA with anticipated travel in and around the greater Southern California metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for assignment of project personnel.
  • Assist in the coordination of project personnel activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • May advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
  • Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items per supervisorโ€™s authorization, including RFIs, submittals, and material requests.
  • Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisorโ€™s request. Such items would usually require research, development and/or interpretation of data and be performed with little instruction or supervision.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar area of study, and/or previous direct field and craft experience.
  • 2+ years of progressive project engineering experience at a mechanical contractor with an emphasis in supporting underground piping scopes. Prior project experience in wet utilities, trenching, shoring, sewer, stormwater, etc. a plus.
  • Proficiency in various construction software and enterprise tools (Excel, MS Project, Procore, etc.).
Preferred
  • Previous design-build project delivery experience.
  • Experience with supporting additional scopes, such as plumbing, a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working directly with union field / craft / trades.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks and/or Autodesk (ACC) Build.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital documents.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
  • Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.
Compensation

$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
