Job description

As a Project Engineer 2, you will oversee the technical delivery of larger and more complex AV Integration projects. You will review new projects, finalizing documentation such as the bill of materials, drawings, infrastructure requirements, network coordination in preparation for installation and commissioning. During project implementation, you will provide guidance and resolve technical questions with all project team resources including project management, fabrication, and field teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Project Engineer 2, you will oversee the technical delivery of larger and more complex AV Integration projects. During project implementation, you will provide guidance and resolve technical questions with all project team resources including project management, fabrication, and field teams.
This position requires a proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and takes pride in delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations. As a Project Engineer 2, you will have an expectation to cross-train and support the growth of others on the team. Your experience will help you ensure our delivery aligns with the project goals, scope, and requirements while having the experience to balance customer expectations with business needs.
Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
Design Finalization
  • Review the preliminary design documents including Scope of Work (SOW) and contract to validate quality, completeness, feasibility, and identify technical or logistical challenges.
  • Address concerns with team during kickoff meetings and correct initial-design gaps.
  • Create required engineering documents working with CAD Team (e.g. infrastructure drawings/floor plans, ceiling plans, equipment placement, riser diagrams, elevations).
  • Generate cable pull sheets and network coordination.
  • Perform calculations including heat and power calculations, and structural needs.
  • Finalize the Bill of Materials by auditing and approving line items once the design is complete.

Project Support
  • Provide Project Manager with engineering documents required for submittal packages.
  • Work with Operations to monitor project budgets and identify personnel needs for installation.
  • Provide technical updates to the Project Manager regarding project progress and challenges.
  • Assemble technical closeout documentation including "as-built" drawings and programming files.

Field and Vendor Collaboration
  • Assist with project handoffs to the installation team through carefully crafted documentation.
  • Collaborate with the commissioning and programming team creating checklists, commissioning guides, and field documentation.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during the installation and commissioning phases.
  • Collect final drawings with red-line revisions and request "as-built" development .
  • Travel to job sites to support installation teams acting as the primary technical resource when required.

  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.

Technical Expertise
  • Advanced computer skills for designing, configuring, and operating AV equipment.

  • Extensive experience with DSP system programming and control system troubleshooting (e.g., AMX/Crestron/Q-SYS) including the ability to lead configuration efforts.
  • Basic familiarity with AV control programming concepts from any of AMX, Crestron, Extron, or Q-SYS.
  • Ability to create and use a test plan reporting the nature of any issues.
  • AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist)
  • AVIXA ANP (Audio-Visual Network Professional) Certification (Cisco CCNA or similar may be considered in lieu of ANP)

Nice-To-Haves:
  • Formal education in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five (5) or more total years of experience in AV system design, integration, or field support.
  • Familiarity with AV/IT standards and emerging technologies such as AVoIP or unified communications platforms (e.g., Microsoft Team, Zoom, Webex)
  • Strong understanding of IP networking - Any specific certifications or training is a plus.
  • Three (3) or more relevant audio/DSP certifications (Biamp, Q-SYS, BSS, Extron, Shure, etc.)
