Job Summary:


Performs the structural design of projects - structural analysis and calculations, structural drawing creation, and coordination with clients and other design partners. Also supports the Project Manager and/or Senior Engineers with project delivery and supervision of junior staff.


Reports To: Project Manager

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs structural design of projects, including executing calculations and analysis, preparing drawings, and drafting reports.
  • Researches applicable codes, regulations, and requirements.
  • Coordinates the structural design internally within the firm and with other disciplines.
  • May stamp and sign projects at the direction of the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Engineer.
  • Performs Construction Administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits (e.g. for construction observation).
  • Coordinates and performs BIM work.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to Assistant Engineers and Technicians with design tasks, including reviewing of work.
  • Communicates during projects including coordination with other engineers/BIM staff and with design partners.
  • Attends assigned project meetings.
  • May supervise assigned Assistant Engineers at the discretion of the Project Manager.
  • Supports team objectives, goals, and projects.
  • May manage small to medium-sized projects, under the supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • [minimum] Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. [preferred] Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • At least 3-6 years professional design experience.
  • PE license in California.
  • Engineering Proficiency of Steel, Reinforced Concrete, Unistrut, Building Design, building retrofits, Building Analysis, Equipment anchorage, Equipment anchorage, Utilites bracing, and Wind Design.
  • Working Knowledge of Timber/Wood, Masonry, Cold Formed Steel, Finite elements modeling/analysis, Seismic Design, Nonlinear Design and Analysis.
  • Proficiency in codes ACI 318, AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 341, and NDS.
  • Proficiency in ETABS, RISA 3D, SAP, BlueBeam, AutoCAD, Office 365, RAM.
  • Highly knowledgeable in construction drawing layout and project documentation.
  • Experience preparing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experienced in the design development of Structural Engineering project of various sizes.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and cloud platforms (Sharepoint, Procore, etc.).
