Job description

Novaspect, Inc., an Emerson Local Business Partner and a global leader in process systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our fast growing team! The Project Engineer will assist our automation and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) customers in developing, delivering, maintaining, and optimizing state-of-the-art automation and advanced controls solutions.

Project Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work to support customers under the Project Management process by:
    • Actively listening, communicating, and developing solutions to accomplish customer's objectives.
    • Taking an active leading role in cooperatively working with internal and external customers to develop effective and innovative solutions to customer issues.
  • Play a lead role in the timely and quality project deliverables by:
    • Understanding overall project design objectives and integration of assigned deliverables with those of team members.
    • Maintaining design standards and quality standards through the project development and implementation phases.
    • Leading formal Design Reviews with customer team.
    • Implementing complex configuration designs into the DeltaV control system.
    • Leading Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) / Site Integration Testing (SIT) engagements with customers.
    • Developing project process simulation and tools.
    • Performing Operator training.
    • Leading startup and commissioning phase of project at customer site.
    • Leading efforts to establish customer metrics and targets for system performance, reliability, and safety.
    • Complementing overall technical expertise with advanced skill development in one or more functional areas: Applications (software), Infrastructure (hardware), Projects, Operational Technology (networking and security).
    • Ability to transfer knowledge and generate technical guidelines for newer engineers, peers in other departments, and customers.
  • Provide clear and frequent communications by:
    • Maintaining and communicating project progress on deliverables per the project schedule.
    • Reviewing project detailed design documentation and approving content for accuracy and quality.
    • Participating/leading project team meetings and customer reviews.
    • Leading resolution of requirements gaps, design issues, and quality concerns.
    • Fully independent and leads technical conversations with customers and sales team.
    • Developing and delivering customer training content.
    • Identifying business development opportunities, developing customer relationships, and engaging as a trusted advisor.
  • Work as a team by:
    • Leading roll out of new technology and product solutions as they align with organizational objectives.
    • Helping colleagues as they encounter situations.
    • Participating in and supporting the Novaspect's technical access line (NTA).
    • Mentoring other Control System Engineers.
    • Developing and delivering training to teams and customers.
    • Ability to work independently as the primary technical interface for customer or sales team.
    • Providing guidance and mentorship to engineers at all levels.
  • Work to grow Novaspect as an employee-owner by:
    • Representing Novaspect's core behaviors, quality, customer service, and brand.
    • Developing technical expertise in one or more control systems, infrastructure, and operational technology areas.
    • Complying with internal and customer safety programs.
    • Emphasizing Novaspect Core Behaviors and Lenses in daily activities and interactions.

Project Engineer Education, Skills, and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology field or technical work experience.
  • 2-6 years of experience in the control system engineering field.
  • Advanced knowledge in application of process controls standards (Emerson, Novaspect, Industry), and participation in the ongoing development and improvement of Standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of internal development procedures and tools.
  • Certification and training in advanced configuration and Process Controls solutions.
  • Demonstrate excellence in core job responsibilities and competencies.
  • Technical expertise and leadership in one or more disciplines within Systems Services.

Project Engineer Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs (i.e., Workstation Monitors and Laptop Computers).
  • Ability to work extended hours on a computer.
  • Ability to work in a loud industrial environment.

Project EngineerLead Pay:

  • Base Salary: $85,000 - $125,000
  • Bonus Potential: 5%
  • Eligible for Overtime

The final offer will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in the position.
