Job description

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Maintenance Project Engineer. The Maintenance Project Engineer will manage activities related to maintenance evolutions and maintenance support functions of the fleet. Responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient maintenance of the fleet in accordance with company policies and standards. Manage and coordinate maintenance activities to include but not limited to installing, inspecting, testing, repairing, adjusting, and calibrating equipment and instrumentation across the fleet. Plan and conduct major maintenance outages. Provide support and training for WIN Waste Innovations' CMMS program.
This position will be based out of one of our Waste to Energy Powerplants, and candidates based in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: Concord (NH), Saugus (MA), Millbury (MA), North Andover (MA), Lisbon (CT), Bridgeport (CT), Hudson Falls (CT), Dutchess County (NY), Westchester County (NY), Gloucester (NJ), Falls (PA), Baltimore (MD).
Essential Functions:
  • Activities are typically related to hands-on management of duties relating to turbine overhauls, CMMS training and support, maintenance
  • Supervises assigned projects and provides oversight.
  • Will be required to coordinate the work with outside contractors and engineers on the specific projects as assigned as well as in-house maintenance.
  • Confers with Engineering Department to determine project details, such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
  • Assists in the development of work scopes, requests for proposals and purchase orders for assigned projects.
  • Prepares specifications to be used in the negotiation of bids, contracts and rate estimations for new business.
  • Manages contractors while working on projects.
  • Monitor the project schedules.
  • Obtain permits when required.

  • Project engineering tasks will include preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and purchase documents, drawing reviews, review and handling of drawings and submittals, and field work.
  • Support Engineering and Maintenance Departments in identifying and executing major & minor capital improvement projects.
  • Provide insight and assist with developing 5-year maintenance plans and budgets.
  • Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.
  • Assists with CMMS program updates, revising standard operating procedures, and support training activities across the fleet.
  • Fully participate in safety programs.
  • Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities required to achieve a high level of quality.
  • Completes the corporate and plant training programs within the time frame prescribed.
  • Follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety and environmental hazards.
  • Reads and understands lockout/tagout, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely in writing and verbally using intercom system, two-way radio or face to face.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Five years of experience in the power generation industry with a minimum of three years of project management experience; experience in an incineration plant environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of steam turbine-generator operations, components, and maintenance practices
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and familiarity with CMMS programs
  • Maintains all licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies

Work Environment:
  • Noisy work environment

Physical Demand:
  • Stand, sit, walk
  • Handle tools, equipment; fine motor skills
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Climb and walk on heights often greater than 4 feet
  • Stoop, kneel, bend, push, pull, crawl
  • Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations
  • Move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, and uneven surfaces
  • Close vision, distance vision, corrected or otherwise
  • Operate a 1.5-inch fire hose operating at 125 psi line pressure to the extent required to extinguish fire
  • Operate fire extinguishing equipment ranging from hand held extinguishers to 200LB portable units
  • Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard manways

Work in areas under adverse conditions that may require the donning and use of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, the following with average fatigue:
