About the Opportunity:

As a Quality Engineer I, you will lead critical quality initiatives, ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and drive process improvements across aerospace manufacturing operations. You will have responsibility for maintaining a product quality and inspection system consistent with the plant’s quality policies and objectives including, but not limited to, dimensional, metallurgical, NDT and part traceability.

Location: Manchester, CT

This position is 100% on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system. (AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP)
  • Participate in contract review process to ensure customer requirements can be met and are effectively incorporated in QMS.
  • Lead chemical processing special processes to ensure conformance to AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
  • Lead corrective action projects to ensure effective corrective/preventive actions using tools such as 5-Why and 8D.
  • Participate in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, LEAN, etc.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system and customer requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with customer auditors to facilitate audits, close out audit findings using proper corrective and preventative actions.
  • Review and disposition nonconforming material reports.
  • Prepare and submit customer approval documentation.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
  • Support site needs related to over-inspection, shipment write up, and other Quality dock area functions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of quality experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy
  • Aerospace experience.
  • Experience and training in quality systems including AS9100 and NADCAP
  • Strong proficiency in quality management systems, process validation, and customer specifications.
  • Expertise in conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD, QMS and ERP software.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide junior team members effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams and with customers.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
