Position Title: Project Engineer
Location: Prestressed Concrete, Newton, KS
Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of precast/prestressed concrete projects by coordinating information flow between drafting, engineering, production, and external stakeholders. This role manages submittals, monitors schedules, resolves project challenges, and ensures project requirements are clearly communicated and met. The Project Engineer serves as the primary point of contact for customers during the design process and plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Execution
  • Analyze specifications, drawings, contracts, and customer requirements to fully understand project scope.
  • Monitor drafting schedule to ensure that project schedules are maintained
  • Coordinate project activities with internal departments to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Track project progress and proactively address schedule, quality, or communication issues.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout design process.
  • Communicate and coordinate production issues that require drafting/engineering input.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, engineers, and project partners.
  • Facilitate design meetings and ensure clear communication among all parties.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and assist in resolving concerns promptly and professionally.

Scheduling & Resource Coordination
  • Coordinate with drafting and engineering to confirm resource availability.
  • Adjust project plans as needed to maintain objectives, to maintain overall project schedule.
  • Support internal scheduling alignment between engineering, drafting, and production.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify project risks and develop solutions to minimize impacts.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve project challenges.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in project reviews and lessons-learned discussions.

Qualifications
Required
  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-related software.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience managing construction or precast/prestressed concrete projects.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling, contract administration, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience reviewing project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, project locations, or company facilities.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and computer systems.

Working Conditions
This position primarily operates in an office environment but may require occasional visits to manufacturing facilities, construction sites, customer locations, or project meetings.
