FT Administrator

Position Summary

A Senior Designer & Project Director is responsible for directing select projects and initiatives and the day-to-day management and development of those projects and initiatives. The scope of the position includes: implement the mission, vision, goals, and values of the Design Center through project and special initiative direction, management, development and coordination of the community engaged design process, design development and coordination at all phases of a project and initiative, contributing to DCDC business and fund development by identifying and securing new projects and grants, and overseeing other staff assigned to projects and initiatives for which the Project Director is responsible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Office administration
  • Directing and managing projects, overseeing production and reviewing all project materials and deliverables, developing project materials and final deliverables
  • Managing and overseeing junior staff and students assigned to the Project Director's projects
  • Mentoring junior staff and students assigned to the Project Director's projects
  • Business and Fund Development - identifying and securing new project contracts and grants, writing project and grant proposals
JOB REQUIREMENTS SECTION Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – A college degree or four to eight years of work experience in a related field.
  • Employment – Seven years to ten years. (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Architectural design
  • Ability to work collaboratively with organizations, community groups and individuals across Detroit’s neighborhoods
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong ability to manage junior staff assigned to projects
  • Business and fund development experience
  • Must be familiar with Adobe Suite,
  • Rhino, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Revit and/or AutoCAD.
Physical Requirements

The job may require lifting light-weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.

Licenses/Certifications
