About The Role
We are looking for a Manager, Project Development to join our growing development team. This role will play a key part in advancing Modal Power's portfolio of late-stage utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across the United States. As a Project Development, you will help shape project strategy, lead critical development activities, and support commercial initiatives that maximize project value and advance projects toward Notice to Proceed (NTP).
You will be a core leader within the Development team. You will own major project workstreams, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and drive progress across permitting, interconnection, engineering, procurement, commercial, and financing activities. In addition to advancing the development pipeline, you will support strategic value creation initiatives across Modal Power's operating portfolio through commercial analysis, contract optimization, performance improvement opportunities, and evaluation of new revenue-enhancing strategies. Your day-to-day will blend project leadership, stakeholder engagement, commercial evaluation, and problem-solving across a dynamic portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy assets.
You will report to the Senior Director, Development & Asset Management and collaborate closely with colleagues across Finance, Legal, Procurement, Engineering, Construction, Asset Management, and Brookfield Renewable. You will also help strengthen development processes, support junior team members, and contribute to building a high-performing organization capable of delivering projects safely, efficiently, and at scale.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the advancement of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects from late-stage development through Notice to Proceed (NTP), including management of project schedules, budgets, risks, and critical path activities.
  • Develop project business cases, financial models, valuation analyses, investment recommendations, and strategic alternatives to support development decisions, capital allocation, financing activities, and executive approvals.
  • Manage key development workstreams including permitting, interconnection, engineering, land, procurement, commercial agreements, and pre-construction readiness activities.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders, including utilities, consultants, landowners, permitting agencies, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and commercial counterparties.
  • Lead commercial evaluations, market assessments, and negotiations supporting project development, revenue contracting, financing, procurement, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare project forecasts, budgets, risk assessments, diligence materials, and decision-support presentations for executive leadership, lenders, Board meetings, and investment committee reviews.
  • Monitor market conditions, regulatory developments, and industry trends to identify risks, opportunities, and value-enhancement initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Identify and execute strategic value creation opportunities across both development and operating assets, including contract optimization, revenue enhancement, operational improvements, life extension strategies, storage integration, repowering initiatives, and other commercial or technical enhancements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, project controls, reporting tools, and organizational best practices while helping build a high-performing development platform.

Knowledge And Experience Required
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, Environmental Science, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy development, origination, project finance, commercial strategy, or related fields.
  • Strong financial modeling and commercial analysis capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills, including schedule, budget, and risk management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred
  • Experience advancing utility-scale renewable energy projects through development milestones.
  • Experience with utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems, or hybrid renewable projects.
  • Experience with utility procurement processes, bilateral PPAs, and renewable energy RFPs.
  • Familiarity with transmission, interconnection, permitting, and project financing processes.
  • Experience presenting recommendations to executive leadership, lenders, investors, or investment committees.
  • Knowledge of ERCOT, SERC, MISO, PJM, or Southeast power markets.
