About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing leader in the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Engineering Construction Project Development Engineer to support the development and execution of large-scale thermal power generation projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, including hydrogen fuel integration, carbon capture solutions, battery storage, and advanced generation assets.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in project development from site evaluation and technology selection through contracting, permitting, and construction support. This position is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys managing complex projects, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the future of energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential project sites for new energy generation facilities, considering technical, environmental, permitting, and operational requirements.
  • Support the development of combined cycle and thermal generation projects utilizing advanced technologies, including hydrogen fuel capabilities and carbon capture solutions.
  • Develop conceptual plant layouts, engineering specifications, and project development plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering firms, environmental consultants, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and support procurement activities, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), EPC contracting, equipment sourcing, and auxiliary service agreements.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the development, design, or construction of power generation facilities.
  • Knowledge of carbon capture technologies, battery energy storage systems, and reciprocating engine technologies.
  • Strong understanding of project development, engineering design, procurement, contracting, and construction processes.
  • Experience evaluating project economics and supporting investment decisions.
  • Proficiency with engineering drawings, GIS applications, spatial analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to project sites and meetings as needed.
