The Project Manager - Engineering, reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager, is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating multiple complex projects within our Reactor Pilot Program and Fuel Line Pilot Facility, while contributing to the design and development of our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) technology. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, project management excellence, and the ability to navigate the complex regulatory and safety requirements of advanced nuclear technology development.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Coordination
  • Lead simultaneous project streams across the Reactor Pilot Program and Fuel Line Pilot Facility, ensuring alignment with overall IMSR development objectives
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, safety, quality assurance, licensing and regulatory compliance
  • Implement and maintain project management methodologies appropriate for nuclear technology development environments
  • Track and report project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior management and stakeholders

Stakeholder Management
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, R&D, Procurement, and executive leadership to ensure alignment of pilot program objectives with organizational strategic goals
  • Manage relationships and information transfer with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of critical components and materials while maintaining quality standards and cost targets
  • Facilitate engagement with EPC contractors, coordinating design reviews, construction milestones, and commissioning activities across multiple project phases
  • Present project updates, technical findings, and resource requirements to internal governance committees and senior management
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with procurement and supply chain teams to anticipate and resolve material availability challenges
  • Coordinate with internal Safety, Quality Assurance, and Licensing teams to ensure all pilot program activities meet compliance requirements
  • Act as liaison between EPC contractors and internal technical teams during facility construction and commissioning phases

Risk & Quality Management
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive risk registers for all managed projects
  • Ensure adherence to nuclear quality assurance programs and safety protocols
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective action implementation when issues arise

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field (Master's degree Preferred)
  • Minimum 7-10 years of project management experience in complex technical environments
  • At least 3 years of experience in the nuclear industry or comparable highly regulated sector
  • Proven track record managing projects with budgets exceeding $5M
  • Strong understanding of nuclear reactor systems and fuel cycle processes
  • Familiarity with nuclear regulatory frameworks (DOE, NRC, CNSC, or international equivalents)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively liaise and build collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Visio for project scheduling, documentation, data analysis, and visual communication.
  • High computer proficiency and quick adaptability to new software tools, enabling efficient workflow integration.
  • Exceptional ability to identify root causes and devise effective resolution strategies for complex project challenges.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt plans and priorities in response to changing project deadlines and business needs.
