Job description

Project Development Executive

Experienced business development and construction professional responsible for driving growth opportunities within the mechanical construction industry. This role focuses on developing and maintaining relationships with general contractors, owners, engineers, and key project stakeholders to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities include managing strategic account relationships, developing sales pipelines, tracking opportunities through CRM systems, and collaborating with operations, estimating, and preconstruction teams to deliver successful project outcomes. The position serves as the primary point of contact throughout the business development and preconstruction process, helping clients identify solutions while supporting project pursuits from initial lead generation through contract execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, and MEP engineering firms.
  • Generate new business opportunities and manage a robust sales pipeline.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue mechanical construction, design-build, and design-assist opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular forecasting, pipeline, and market intelligence reports.
  • Collaborate with operations, estimating, and leadership teams to develop winning project strategies.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, interviews, and proposal efforts.
  • Support preconstruction activities, including design review, budgeting, value engineering, and scope development.
  • Attend owner, architect, contractor, and project planning meetings to support project pursuits.
  • Build long-term customer relationships by understanding client needs and delivering responsive solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within the construction industry.
  • Assist in developing short- and long-term business development plans to support company growth objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, or related experience.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, project development, or preconstruction within the mechanical construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems, HVAC, piping, and construction delivery methods.
  • Experience working with general contractors, consulting engineers, owners, and construction teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management abilities.
  • Experience with CRM systems, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Ability to lead project pursuit efforts and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Ideal Background:

Candidates may come from mechanical contracting, HVAC sales, project management, estimating, preconstruction, engineering, construction management, or business development roles and have a demonstrated track record of building client relationships and securing commercial construction projects.
