Job description


Position Summary
Provide business and administrative support to project management to facilitate the successful planning and coordination of activities on a designated project or group of projects. Assist PM in accomplishing goals and objectives within prescribed time frames and financial parameters.
Position Details
  • Assist in plan and specification analysis in order to determine clear and consistent interpretations of construction documents.
  • Assist project management with planning work schedule and projecting manpower needs.
  • Assist in the coordination of project personnel activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Advise project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, and the like. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
  • Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items (i.e., expense reports, supply requisitions, RFI's, submittals, shop drawings, procurement, quantity take-offs, etc.) per supervisor's authorization.
  • Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor's request. May require research, development and/or interpretation of data with little supervision or instruction.
  • Assist with monitoring subcontractors, project scheduling and cost control.
  • Assist with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues.
  • Participate in the continuous updating and accurate generation of as-built documents.
  • Attend project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as required.
  • Assume a proactive approach to career development. Utilize available resources within Southland as well as request alternative instruction to help achieve project manager status.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.

Qualifications
  • 4-yr mechanical engineering or construction science degree (or commensurate levels of technical training and related experience)
  • 2+ years of construction management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills and ability/desire to learn new software systems
  • OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
  • Must be courteous, professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Southland's partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.
